It is a round stone tower with lantern and gallery attached to 1-story keeper's house painted in white. Kilcredaun is a harbour or local light on the north side of the mouth of the River Shannon, 16km east of Loop Head. It is built on Kilcredaun Head and also serves to lead vessels to the anchorage at Carrigaholt roads.
