The remains of the present abbey are largely early 14th Century. Usurped by the Cromwellians, it was granted by Charles II to Sir Henry Lynch whose family kept it until the last century. Further up the field, in the graveyard, is a 14th century parish church with the lower part of the walls sloping outwards.
