Description

This family run hostel offers warm hospitality on the Beara Peninsula. Recently renovated and extended to add a new lounge, more rooms and a large sheltered courtyard the hostel is comfortable and conveniently located in the village of Allihies. It offers accommodation in dormitories as well as private rooms. In addition, there are separate recreational and dining areas with good kitchen facilities. The hostel has wheelchair accessible bedrooms on the ground floor. Just 100 meters away there is a playground with basketball and tennis facilities and slides swings etc. for smaller children. You can also rent bicycles in the village and any information you might require about the area is available in leaflets.

Allihies village is on the very western tip of the wild and rugged Beara peninsula where the cliffs meet the Atlantic Ocean. The hostel is a member and approved by the Independent Holiday Hostels and by Bord Failte (Irish Tourist Board). Touring groups can be organized for cycling clubs, walking clubs, etc. and groups staying in the area for study please contact the hostel. There is also a walking route from Castletownbere over the mountains to Allihies it is off road and moderately difficult.
